About

London Art is a unique collection of predominantly Edwardian (1900 to 1920s) period views of London and London Life as portrayed by Post Card artists of that time. This period in the Post Card world is referred to generally as 'The Golden Age' when collecting Post Cards was an obsessive craze that spread right across the world. A time when there was an overriding obsession for sending and collecting Picture Post Cards that lasted for decades, interrupted briefly during the 1st World War when the 'Post Card' focus switched its' focus to raising the Patriotic spirit for all those countries involved.
Here in Great Britain, London was still considered 'The Capital City' that had all the attributes of a great city and a wonderful social life to match. These Post Cards as interpreted by artists and publishers of the day show it off at its very best. They serve as a visual reminder of how London once appeared through the magical eyes of the Post Card artist, each in their own inimitable style.
